Type space to make the text reappear z B HOW TO USE HOME COMMANDS Home commands may be given when the cursor is in command position, the upper left corner of the screen, next to PED:. The cursor is initially in this position. Use the HOME key (or slanted arrow) to move the cursor back and forth between command mode and the text. Some home commands have parameters. Mandatory parameters are indicated between <> in the list of home commands. Optional extra parameters are indicated between (<>) and will only be prompted for if you press the down arrow after you have entered the preceding parameter. If you use the return key to terminate a parameter, only mandatory parameters will be prompted for. Some of these have default values which will be used by PED editor if you use CR as response to the prompt. Type for more general info, for the table of contents B HOW TO USE THE FUNCTION KEYS The function keys are mainly used to edit text. On the NOTIS terminals TDV 2200/9 (ND-246) and Facit 4420 (ND-248) most functions are marked on the keys, whereas other terminal keyboards have very few marked keys. Some of the function keys may be used both in the text and in command position. A function written between <> indicates that it is a control key. Some of these have default values which will be used by PED editor if you use CR as response to the prompt. Type for more general info, for the table of contents z B FORMATTING YOUR FILE The formatting system NOTIS-TF may be activated directly from PED. Text formatted in NOTIS-TF will automatically be dis- played in INSPECT mode in NOTIS-WP afterwards, for inspection of the result. You then have the choice of either copying the result to a printer or returning to edit mode in NOTIS-WP to make changes in the source text. See the NOTIS-WP reference manual for further details. It is not possible to return to PED. You may also enter the system PERFORM directly from PED. In both cases you must save the current text to a file before activating the subsystem.
